High Seas Fishing Guide

Preparation
1. Purchase fishing pole and baits from in game item mall.
2. There are 4 types of poles: Rod, Fine Fishing Rod, Navigation Fishing Rod and deep sea.

3. There are 3 types of Bait: Primary, secondary, and advanced.
Currently there are only 2 kinds available in the item mall (2/2011)

How to fish

1. When you stop on top of a shoal, right click on the bait. Then left click on pole to place bait on the "hook". After you bait your hook, it shows the level of the bait.
2. Select the shoal and left click on the pole to start fishing.
3. Once you start fishing, there is 30 second count down. For these 30 seconds, you can not move the ship or you will stop fishing/fail.  If the shoal moves too far away from you, you will stop fishing/fail. Also note, the success rate is proportionate to your fishing level.

Fishing Event NPC - Seville

There are 7 kinds of fish that give points:
Anchovy, Sardine, Cod, Herring, Salmon, Rat fish,and Sturgeon for contest event. Winner gets silver, title and IM items.

Sea swordfish, deep sea tuna, deep sea eel, deep sea salmon, deep sea lobster and great white shark will  give meat/flesh, accessories, stones and jewels (random).  They can be also be exchanged for silver at NPC in Seville.  Once you have enough of these fish, you can exchange them for items like treasure weapon and armor from NPC in Seville.

Price exchange:

For every 100 anchovy: 1 million
For every 100 Sardine: 2 million
For every 100 Cod fish: 3.5 million
For every 100 herring: 5 million
For every 100 Salmon: 7.5 million
For every 100 Ratfish: 10 million
For every 100 Sturgeon: 15 million

Equipments exchange:

Method 1
For every 50 meat of sea swordfish, deep sea tuna, deep sea eel, deep sea salmon can be exchange for items like:
Gigantic Sword, Dragon -Squama Falchion, Heaven's Halberd, Original Type of Musket, Mal / Female chain armor, Male/ Female Officer Suit.

Method 2
For every 30 great white shark and 2 fins you can get
Moxie Sword, Dragon Edge, Detonator Gun, and Longinus Spear, Male / Female Gaul Armor and hat.

Method 3
For every 10 Lobster scale you can get
Ganjiang Sword, Multiple Tempered sword(?), Axe of Minotaur, Ancient Fire Gun, male/female Executor Suit and hat.

Method 4
For every lobster specimen you can get
Divine Falchion of Mars, Divine Halberd of Poseidon, Aris Holy Sword, Lost Fire Gun, Timeur Helmet, Mulan Helmet, Timeur Suit, and Mulan Chain Robes.

You exchange lobster specimen from NPC in Seville with silver and 40 lobster scales.

New item
Holy water is use to purify the effect of curse (drop when dead) on accessories like black skeleton. Once a item is purified it erases that effect.

Special Task
You exchange lobster specimen from NPC in Seville with silver and 40 lobster scales.

Tips
Using the  fishing rods are a great way to catch had to acquire jewelry. Use a team to fish with the 2nd boat doing the fishing, the lead boat follows the fish with out canceling the attempt.

Only deep sea rod w/ high lvl bait in senior shoals will catch lobster and they dont come very often

When caught in a storm or when fishing failed I had to re-bait the hook.  If I stopped fishing because I was out of range, I did not have to re-bait, I just clicked the rod again.

The most important thing
Many people are concerned about whether the fishing skill level can affect the success rate or not.
The answer is yes. The higher your fishing skill level, the higher your success rate.
Level 1 Fishing Skill has 40% success rate, but what if you have level 100 Fishing skill? No fail I guess.

It seemed that on average you had about 3-6 seconds to recognize the shoal stopped and got fishing on it. If you are too slow the shoal will start to drift away on you before you can collect. To speed things up I pre-loaded the rod ( right click bait and click rod ), put the fishing rod in the tool bar on F1, once I recognized the shoal had stopped I sailed to it, mouse selected it and used F1 key.

Durability
Regardless the level of your fish rod, all new rods have 100 durability. They cannot be repaired. Each attempt of fishing will reduce durability by 1, no matter if you fail or succeed. When the durability reaches 0, the rod cannot be used anymore.

Map pieces come in stacks of 4-60 but drop rate has dropped on those as well, most things have.

You lose your bait if the shoal drifts away from you and there will be no collection attempt however,  you only lose one durability on your rod with a successful collection try. Buy extra bait it wont go to waste. You are unable to move your ship once you start fishing.
There is a 30 second timer that must count down for a succesful collection attempt and the shoal will float away from you. If you use a team format the lead char can follow the shoal while the tail character fishes. This is dfficult and you will go cross-eyed after awhile staring at the screen. The shoals will randomly stop moving long enough for you to fish them but you must be quick to recognize it has stopped and jump on it. It seemed that on average you had about 3-6 seconds to recognize the shoal stopped and got fishing on it. If you are too slow the shoal will start to drift away on you before you can collect. This is odd because I have fished up 4 ornaments levels 7-9 and a blood stone with Navigator rod and 79 fishing on my other toon. Didn't keep track of everything then though. -HaxM3NOw

Update: After awhile the stats came back. This happened while talking to LS who did say not to worry, that the quest would still submit. But the good news is yes to Armati's question. Flesh can even be traded to others in the normal fashion and it will count towards quests. :-)

Now this is only true for the jewelry,  as far as I can tell.  Only thing that has ever dropped Hades/Ares for me is Sharks.  But that is me, not you.
First time I went fishing I was lucky and got 3 saph's  at the same time,  that has never happened to me again, and think it might be a fluke.  That being said, I can say that all those crazy items that do come in 3's  are used for Guild Town Upgrades.  So  find a guild that needs them and sell, or save incase your guild might someday. Gotten same stuff from all deepsea style fish.  Maps come in stacks of 4-60 for me so far. but drop rate has dropped on those as well, most things have.
Most other things that can be had from "deepsea" style fish seem to be on a random drop rate.
I have noticed on things that seems to help.  If I Right click as soon as it's caught, it's almost always flesh.  But, with over 90% of the time I've tried,  Stocking up 7 or more of any/all deepsea fish before right clicking has almost always gotten me 2 or 3 items, This is also how I've had really good luck getting Hades/Ares sets now divided among my guild members.  I seem to have best luck lining fish by lvls in Rows ,  with highest on the bottem.  so  4 Salmon, 3 Eel, 2 Shark.  with Shark getting right clicked after 4 salmon,  and again after eel.  Has given me a much higher rate of item drops.  Not sure if anyone else has noticed.  Also I've tried this fishing all three lvl Shoal and every single area using 2 rods.

I'm about to do my last  Deep sea rod,  two more rods  with some lvl1 food are in warehouse for later,  but  I've spent tooo much time fishing, only thing I really have gotten out of it that is really useful, is 39 lvls in Voyage, that I'm most happy about.

Got lots of other ideas  and tons of Colony upgrade items,  PM if you have any questions, or on Columbus, just look for sweets.

Oh  one final note. Fishing lvl helps,  I started at lvl 1,  and now am 71,  But it doesn't help with anything other than getting fewer "Luck not good enough" crap.  IMO I haven 't seen any change in the lvl of deepsea/ or normal fish what so ever
